The title I suppose is a little misleading. My home base is, of course, my studio and my home in Spring Mills. On the other hand, I missed the act of actually "going to work." With that in mind, I reached out to the Bellefonte Springboard. Now, in addition to my home office and studio, I have a work space at the Springboard. So far, I enjoy it. Especially the blazingly fast internet and staring out the window at the ducks across the street in Tallyrand Park.
In the past six months, I've come to quite a few realizations. First, I really need to work on my marketing skills. Next? I need help with networking and getting myself known in the community here.
Networking is a thing. In fact, it's a hugely important elephant in your studio apartment kind of thing. There's no way of getting around it and I wasn't doing it. The Bellefonte Springboard, I hope, will help me in that regard.
I'm a little disappointed in myself for not posting to my blog more often, for offering free shoots to build a portfolio and for failing to get the networking ball rolling on my own. In the meantime, I'm going to step up my game.
So, Shawn, what's the plan? Good Question random person! I'll be asking for help, that's for sure. Furthermore, I'll be doing some model calls for the area, so stay tuned. In addition to that? We've got Easter Mini sessions coming with a REAL EASTER BUNNY. Well, not a real bunny exactly, but someone in a bunny suit.
How does a guy with social anxiety and introversion to the extreme do this whole networking thing? Another fantastic question random person! It's my job. I'm pretty darn good at this whole photography thing, and I truly believe people should hire me. When I'm behind the lens, my social anxiety disappears and I'm laser-focused on capturing the moment and the emotions that make it special. I just need to channel that energy into the actual networking portion and away we go!
I can't wait to get this thing going, and I hope you'll join me as I grow with the Centre County community and the Bellefonte area.
