Centre County is home to quite a few beautiful public spaces, a few of them I'd consider hidden gems. Millbrook Marsh Nature Center is one of them. Not far from downtown State College, the free park has plenty of open space and trails with a variety of scenery. When Erica suggested Millbrook as a venue for portraits, I had to look it up to be sure it was suitable. After a Google image search, I knew she was on to something.
After their photographer was forced to cancel, Erica contacted me to capture Beau's six month photos. Baby's can be plenty of fun to capture as their facial expressions change instantly and they lack the self conscious inhibitions of older kids. The drawback of course is that their patience can be razor thin, which is a significant risk for a photographer or a family without an unlimited amount of time. We needn't have worried about that with Beau. While we struggled to pull a smile from him, he was engaged and generally content with our posing and constant stimulation. Huge Kudos to his mom and dad for being animated and assisting with his gaze and attention span. They were both a pleasure to work with and I look forward to seeing them again.
Perfect weather at Millbrook Marsh, a setting sun, and a patient baby made for a great shoot. Without further ado, meet Beau Mckee, future baseball superstar.
