I recently announced on my Facebook page that I was expanding into Boudoir photography and wanted to provide a few free shoots to build my portfolio. Karley responded to the call and was absolutely fantastic as we tried several outfits and poses, adjusted lighting and generally tried to have fun and experiment.
Karley is recently engaged, and wanted to do something special for her Fiancé this Christmas that would also be unique and special. I've been dying to test out some of the lighting and angles in the room I've got set up for boudoir as well as the main studio downstairs. She was an absolute trooper as we worked through poses, slight body angle adjustments, and outfit changes.
Lets face it, this kind of photo shoot has the potential to be super awkward and weird, but between the two of us, we kept it light and fun while still getting the serious looks that make up part of Karley's personality.
This was probably the most fun I've ever had on a shoot, and the opportunity to let both my creativity and hers run wild was part of what made it so enjoyable. As for the shoot itself, I never touch and always ask if a pose is OK and if she's comfortable doing it. The key is to let you be the boss. I make suggestions but ultimately it's you that gets to choose what we do. Boudoir is supposed to be empowering and fun, and that's my goal with every shoot. Every woman is beautiful, and my job is to show that in the photos. Karley made it easy for me and absolutely rocked her poses. The only question now is who's next?
